The bad news is Jethenro has lost 12-13 pounds in the past month. This is a concern, especially since he doesnt have anything to lose. Mom is doing some research to find out what can be used and we are hoping to find vegan/vegetarian, low sugar, healthy options. If you have any suggestions, please let us know!
Our 2 prayer requests for this week - please pray that (1) Jetties bone marrow aspiration will show that he is in full remission and (2) that we will be able to find some healthy, vegan/vegetarian options to help him gain weight.
Thank you so much for your continued prayer and support. It means so much to us!
We're praying. I'll pass the news along to our friends up here. :) I'll also ask around for something that will help Jethenro gain weight. ((hugs from MN))
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was pregnant and couldn't deal with smell of a lot of cooked foods, hubby made a smoothie of sorts with non-dairy milk, oats, sunflower, sesame & flax seeds, a ripe banana (or papaya), raisins, molasses/honey (to taste). I had it instead of supplements because I couldn't swallow one to save my life.
We used the Encyclopedia of Foods to get info on the nutrients in each component.
I can ask him (when he gets here) for the measurements he used, if you're interested.
We will pray...and pray and pray...
ReplyDeleteWill continue the prayers. Thanks for the update! As far as healthy foods for weight gain, nuts are what come to mind immediately. They can be blended up and put in different foods if one doesn't like the taste. . . Will pray for you to find something that works. I would love to offer 15 pounds of MY weight to him, if only it were that simple!
ReplyDeleteWow, I hadn't been keeping up with news and didn't see this about Jethenro's health battle until this evening. You will be in my prayers Jethenro!
ReplyDeleteOn weight gain: Avocados are excellent. Amazingly, besides the normal use of them (guacamole, in sandwiches & salads, etc), they can be put in fruit smoothies & carob pudding, and you'd never know they are there except for a very smooth texture.
Also, coconut (milk etc), brazil nuts, and any kind of nut are good ways to get healthy fat. These are the things we use at Uchee Pines.
God Bless!
